“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”

Isaiah 64:1-9

There is never a time when God stops caring about His children

1. Dependence

Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! (Isaiah 64:1)

…Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people. (Isaiah 64:9b)

All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags… (Isaiah 64:6a)

Can you think of a single area in our world today where we don’t need the intervention of God?

Step One of Alcoholics Anonymous: “We admitted we are powerless over alcohol and that our lives had become unmanageable.”

2. Expectation

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. (Isaiah 64:4)

To wait on God means we live with a relentless belief that, when it’s needed the most, God will show up to do what only God can do.

3. Submission

Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

Focus on the kind of submission that allows God to do what He wants to do in your life and your family.

You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. (Isaiah 64:5a)
